Xfinity CyberSecure (formerly Advanced Security) helps protect your home network and connected devices from online threats. It helps keep connected devices like computers, phones, cameras, and smart thermostats safer while they are connected to your Xfinity Gateway.
CyberSecure is included with Xfinity WiFi Shield. WiFi Shield brings together CyberSecure, WiFi Motion, Family Settings, Home Watch, Away Watch, and Dark Watch modes when you lease a compatible Xfinity Gateway. CyberSecure is the digital protection part of that experience.
What is Xfinity CyberSecure?
Xfinity CyberSecure is the new name for Advanced Security. It provides built-in security for connected devices from the moment they connect to an eligible Xfinity Gateway.

- Helps block risky websites, phishing attempts, malware, and other online threats.
- Helps block suspicious remote access to connected devices, including cameras and other smart devices from known dangerous sources.
- Monitors network activity in real time, and sends alerts when a security risk is detected.
- Works in the background to help identify unusual device behavior and evolving security risks.
- Gives you a CyberSecure dashboard in the Xfinity app to view and manage detected security risks.
Benefits
- No extra CyberSecure hardware is needed. You need Xfinity Internet and an eligible leased Xfinity Gateway.
- You do not need to install security software on each device. Once CyberSecure is turned on, eligible connected devices are protected through your home network.

Turn on CyberSecure
You can turn on CyberSecure in the Xfinity app. From the Overview tab, select the Internet CyberSecure tile and follow the prompts.
Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for CyberSecure to fully turn on.

Equipment requirements
CyberSecure is supported on eligible leased Xfinity Gateways. Customers who use their own modem are not eligible to use CyberSecure.
WiFi Shield feature availability varies by gateway. CyberSecure and Family Settings are available on more eligible gateways, while the full WiFi Shield experience, including WiFi Motion and Dark Watch, requires newer eligible gateway equipment.
Note: Advanced Security cannot be used on gateways in Bridge Mode.
